This robot is one of the top models from iRobot and it certainly performs well. It can easily move across a variety of surfaces, and is very effective at sucking dust, dirt and other debris away. It is also extremely well-constructed, and it looks great too.
The S9 is the most recent model of iRobot's top S Series line of robot vacuums and, as the name suggests, it has many additional features that set it apart from lesser models. For instance the iRobot app can use the camera in this unit to create an interactive map of your home that helps it in cleaning and navigation.
It will also return to the spot where it left off if its battery gets depleted during a cleaning session and you don't need to waste time re-cleaning the same spots. You can set the timer to start and stop cleaning with an audio command, or via the iRobot App. This smart vacuum can also clean in darkness!
Another excellent feature is Carpet Boost, which gives the S9 additional suction power when it comes into contact with carpeting, so that it can take in even more dirt and dust. The unit is an elongated front design, which allows it to get closer to walls and corners than previous round designs. Be aware that this model won't work well with shag or high-pile carpeting.
In our tests, we observed that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety of floor surfaces, including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also performed well on tiles, laminate floors, and vinyl flooring. It also did a great job of navigating between furniture and objects, however it had some issues with stairs, and could accidentally hit things like bookcases.
The S9's ability to automatically return to its base and empty its dust bin after it is full was a fantastic feature. It cut down on the need for manual maintenance. The dust bin should last for about 30 loads or a month and half. You'll need to replace the filter periodically (as recommended by iRobot). We've found that the iRobot S9+ doesn't get extremely loud when it's in use, so it's a good choice for people who live with kids or pets.
Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
Robot vacuum cleaners are designed to do the work for you and can be used to clean carpet and hardwood floors. The most effective ones can be monitored and controlled via an app on your smartphone and some have mopping technology for bathroom and kitchen floors. They are a great option for busy families and they are becoming more affordable. If you want top-of-the-line features in your robotic cleaner, you're going to have to spend a bit more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is an all-in-one vacuum and mopping machine which makes it a great choice for those who live in a house with multiple floors. Its dual motors offer an impressive cleaning capacity and the 0.6l dustbin can store plenty of pet hair. The dustbin can be removed and emptied easily this is important because you'll need to do it often.
It's easy to set up too, although I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the directions to connect it to your WiFi network. Once you've done that the app will assist you create an accurate map of your home. You can name rooms and divide large spaces into sub-rooms (good for open-plan living) and guide the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that require cleaning at a given time. Other robots also have similar scanning and mapping functions, but Eufy's app is more refined and user-friendly than others.
The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can turn on the mop or vacuum via voice thanks to its integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a wonderful feature that makes the robot hands-free. It was a success in our test home.
The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has a few issues with bare flooring. It can miss pet fur and other small objects, and tends to bump things, such as its charger on the charging platform. It's not as quiet as other models we've tried, and the whirring noise can be distracting.
Roborock V3S Pro
The robot doesn't come with the same features as some of the more expensive models we've tested, but it does have the basics covered. It has a big dust bin that can hold a lot of dirt before needing to be emptied. The mop and vacuum system is great for both carpets with hard floors as well as carpets with a low pile. It's also extremely quiet, and we were able to sit and watch the TV while it was working without feeling like it was blazing us with noise.
Our testers were impressed by how simple it was to install and use, and they were impressed with its ability to clean all the mess off their floors. It did a good job picking up pet hair, messes, and carpeting however it had a harder time removing stubborn stains. The app was simple to use and intuitive. They were able program the vacuum to clean on a regular basis to cut down on manual work. It doesn't include object avoidance or mapping technology, which means it cannot be sent to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundaries can be used).
Another model from iRobot's low-cost line which is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the money. It was the best of all robot vacuums we tested in terms of finding and avoiding obstacles and it's the best option for those who want a smarter self-emptying robot vacuum that can handle pet hair and messes on hardwood floors and low-pile carpeting. It's also extremely quiet and has a large dust bin that can hold plenty of debris before it has to be empty.
The V3S Pro did not make it into our top choices lists of trusted sources who perform hands-on tests, but it was praised by Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They appreciated how easy it was to install and use, but they noted that its battery life was very short and it was unable to stay clear of some of the most difficult mess we've put it through.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is an entry-level robot vacuum and mop that comes with a variety of features at a fair price. You can get many of the top features, including smart navigation and mapping, without paying top dollar. You can even use voice commands using Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations and begin your cleaning routine at any time while you're away.
Roborock has taken its time developing this innovative cleaner. The result is that the product is incredibly solid and feels like it was made with premium materials. Its base is sturdy and stable, with an integrated charging port for the battery. On the top is the dock for the clean water tank and the water bins that are dirty. You'll also find a panel under the dock here that holds a sealed vacuum bag.
Once you pair your device to the app, you'll be able to see a 2D or 3D map of your home. It will show the exact location where your robot is located and what area it's cleaning. You can also build virtual barriers to keep your robot out of certain areas or only clean certain types of flooring. It's also able to adjust its power settings according to what type of floor is being cleaned, as well as selecting the most efficient method of cleaning.
The Q Revo is unique to many other robot vacuums because it can lift both mop heads while vacuuming. This helps to prevent carpet fibres from becoming stained. In fact, it's one of the only vacuums on the market that can do this.

It is still necessary to monitor the levels of water in the dock manually, though, as there isn't an automatic reminder.
